My impact as a business owner
As you might have guessed from my business name, the impact I make on people and the planet is very important to me.
As well as choosing to work with clients who make a positive impact, I also strive to make sure my own operations have a positive impact, too.
My impact
Environmental impact
- My energy at home (which is also my office!) is provided by Octopus Energy's Super Green plan.
- My website is powered by wind energy through Make Hay Green Hosting.
- My business bank account is with Starling, who have stated that they don't invest in fossil fuels.
- I have a fossil-free pension plan.
- I donate monthly to environmental law charity Client Earth, who hold governments and corporations to account on climate change.
- I've completed Carbon Literacy Training from the Carbon Literacy Project.

Social impact
- I've taken the Ethical Move Pledge, committing to marketing my services ethically.
- I've offered free mentoring services through the Social Mobility Foundation and the Freelance Coalition for Developing Countries.
- I follow Oxfam's Inclusive Language Guide when writing for myself and my clients, to ensure my work is inclusive for all.
Generative AI
I use generative AI in a mindful, measured way, when it can have a positive impact. I primarily use Thaura, a more ethical AI tool with a lower carbon footprint.
